Cleo McCormick Newburn was born on October 30, 1938 and went to be with God on November 17, 2022. She grew up in South Texas the sixth of seven children. 

She never met a musical instrument she didn’t like, and was an accomplished piano player. She loved all kinds of music and loved singing. She also loved to write. 

She started writing for the Robstown Record at a young age. She also worked for the Jacksonville Daily Progress for a time. Her last job was as the office manager for Dr. Vincent Wang in Jacksonville, Texas. She loved people and truly enjoyed meeting new ones all the time. 

Cleo was preceded in death by her daughter Evelyn Fowler Jordan and husband Guy M. Newburn, Jr. 

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa (George) Fowler Jones of Bullard, son Seren Christian “Bink” Newburn of Bullard, step daughters Chemaine and Andrea Newburn of Bullard and step son Chris (Liz) Newburn of Whitehouse. She is survived also by granddaughters Allison Calderon of Bullard and Christi (James) Cheshire of Flint, grandson Daniel Jordan of San Antonio, and great granddaughters Harper Calderon of Bullard and Alice Cheshire of Flint,  brother Neal McCormick of Georgetown and son-in-law Don (Katie) Jordan of San Antonio.

A graveside service will be held Friday, 11/25/2022, at Bullard Cemetery, at 11:00am under the direction of Bro. Jake Sledge. There will be a visitation prior to the service to begin at 10:00am in the cemetery.
