David Nathaniel Hatcher

David Nathaniel Hatcher, of Flint, TX, passed away at the age of 70 on March 11th, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.

David was born on January 21st , 1956, to missionaries Elias Wesley Hatcher and Doris Gail (Penny) Meeker in Puebla, Mexico. They moved to Fullerton, California when David was 12, and his education continued in California, culminating in a degree from Biola University in Intercultural Studies.

After graduation, David went into business for himself working in kitchen and bathroom remodeling. For over 30 years, David brought craftsmanship and precision to his remodeling work and enjoyed building and working with his hands.

In 1982, David married Diane Dalgleish. During their 28-year marriage, David and Diane raised their three sons, Nate, Michael, and Aaron in Fullerton, California. David and his sons enjoyed many activities together such as camping, playing baseball at the park, going to arcades and theme parks, and playing catch in the backyard. He also shared with them his passion for carpentry and was a good teacher. His lessons on tools and woodworking were instilled with integrity and kindness.

Near the time of David’s retirement, he met Dee White in 2019, and they married the following year. In 2021, they moved from California to Flint, Texas. As David’s working hours decreased, he used his time to take nature walks, read the Bible, and care for the lawn through determined vigilance against his nemesis, the gophers. However, his greatest delight was spending time with his grandchildren whom he loved and adored.

David was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Dee Hatcher, his former wife Diane Hatcher; his children Nate Hatcher, Michael and Katie Hatcher, Aaron and Jackie Hatcher; his stepchildren Elisabeth Scott, Josiah and Alyx White, Talitha White; his grandchildren James, Lucy, Rosie, Clare, Sammuel, Brighton, Breslyn, Briston; and his siblings Rod, Joy, Jonathan, Art, and Jim.

The memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Tyler on March 20th, 2026, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Foundation to Abolish Abortion or The Tim Tebow Foundation.
