Donald Martin Hinz passed away on February 4, 2026, in Tyler. He was born on February 14, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Glen Arthur Hinz and Jemima Hinz Conner.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 23 years, Brenda Hinz; his parents; and his brother, Scott Conner.
He is survived by his sister, Jill Conner; one daughter; two stepdaughters; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly knew him as "Papa Don."
Don and Brenda were high school sweethearts at Whitehouse High School who found their way back to each other and married later in life. Don was a businessman with a natural talent for sales, working in various sales roles throughout his career, including as a realtor in Tyler.
He was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where he served on the offertory team and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.
He enjoyed music, time on the water, and antiquing with Brenda. Don will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A private family graveside service will be held in his honor. His greatest joy was being "Papa Don," and his love will live on in our hearts.
The family expresses special gratitude to Hospice of East Texas, Bluebonnet Nursing Center, and Christus Mother Frances Hospital for their compassionate care.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hospice of East Texas or Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
