Glenn Edwin Barnett, Sr.

Glenn Edwin Barnett, Sr., was born to Walter Elmer Barnett and Sally Darnell Barnett on August21, 1946, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, he passed away at his home in Tyler, Texas on March 8,2021 at 74 years of age.Glenn spent much of his childhood in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, he attended Plain Dealing HighSchool where he excelled in sports, namely football, baseball and track, being awarded AllDistrict in each during his high school tenure.The Love of sports continued throughout his lifetime, Glenn, known as, “Big Glenn” to hisfriends and family, and “Poppa Glenn” to his grandchildren, was happiest watching his two sonsand later his grandsons playing football and baseball, the favorite sports of the family. Whenthe kids were no longer playing sports, he was cheering for his MOST BELOVED LSU Tigers! “GoTigers.”In addition to sports, he enjoyed hunting and was an avid deer hunter, spending as much timeas he could at the Homer deer camp, on hunting trips and in the woods with his sons,grandsons and friends.Glenn worked in the Transportation Industry for 30 plus years, he held numerous positionsthroughout his career and retired as a Terminal Manager in 2006. After retirement he and hiswife, Barbara moved to East Texas, where he spent most of his time fishing on surroundinglakes and taking his dog “Rusty” on golf cart rides around the neighborhood.He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael Elmer Barnett, Sr.He is survived by wife of 16 years, Barbara McNabb Barnett and their precious dog “Rusty” ofTyler, Texas; his children from former marriage to Ella Felknor Hardy, son, Glenn Edwin Barnett,Jr. and wife Kathryn of The Woodlands, Texas; daughter, Michelle Barnett-Hubbell and husbandPete; and son, Chad Deron Barnett, both of Shreveport, Louisiana; and grandchildren, BrandonGlenn Barnett, Joseph Conner Barnett, Shelbi Grace Barnett and Chad Levi Barnett.A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday March 27, 2021, Gorsulowsky FuneralHome Chapel, Vivian, Louisiana.
