Joann Koonce Hendlrix passed from this world to our heavenly home on June 7, 2026 at Autumn Leaves Nursing facility in Henderson.

Joann was born on 3/3/1941 in Carthage to Levy and Moneil Koonce.  She attended Carthage schools and upon graduating, she married her high school sweetheart.  Their young family settled into life in Carthage where they started their family.  They were blessed with their first son Hugh Anthony Harvey.  During her first marriage, her family lived in Carthage, Tenaha, Van and Arp.  They additionally were blessed with a second son Bryan Keith Harvey and a daughter Jodi Harvey (both currently of Arp).  During her first marriage Joann had a career of keeping children in her home in Arp. Later in life she worked for Hibbs Halmark of Tyler.

Joann found a second love and married her second husband – Fredrick Hendrix of Tyler.  They moved to New Mexico for a period and later returned to Tyler to live and be closer to her family.  After Fred passed away, she moved to Henderson where she lived independently for a period then moved to Autumn Leaves in the fall of last year and once there she loved her new home.

She was preceded in death by her brother Levy Washington Jr., her son Hugh Anthony Harvey, both parents Levy and Moneil Koonce, her husband Fred Hendrix and grand-daughter Sarah Danielle Harvey of Arp. 

She is survived by a son and daughter in law Brian and Kerri Harvey of Arp. A daughter and son in law Jodi and Joey Swonke also of Arp.  Her sister Lelmer Ruth Tyler of Sheridan, Arkansas.  A brother and sister- in- law, Dale and Tammy Koonce also of Henderson. A special granddaughter and her husband Kristi and Justin Fowler of Overton. A great granddaughter Kaylee Fowler also of Overton.  She was blessed to have numerous other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
