Katherine Jean Lares, age 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, October 18th, 2026, in Crockett, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. Known to many as Kathy, she was a woman whose gentle heart and wandering soul left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Kathy was a devoted mother to Heather (David), Samantha, and Wyatt; a loving sister to Patricia (Butch); and a cherished aunt to Christina (John), Tiffany (Nick), Corey (Lindsey), Andrew (Norell), and Veronica. She also held close to many other aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Those who knew Kathy remember her as someone who loved deeply, gave freely, and embraced life with a quiet, adventurous spirit. Her warmth, humor, and stubbornness will be missed more than words can express.

Honoring her final wishes, Kathy will be cremated without a formal service, and her ashes will be released back to nature—where her spirit always felt most at home.

Kathy’s presence in this world was a gift, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
