Mary Koons

Our dear Mary Koons took her last breath on earth followed by her first breath in Heaven on Sunday, February 27, 2022.  Mary is now healed and in the loving arms of Jesus in her eternal home, Heaven.

Mary passed peacefully in her Bullard home which she loved. This, the home she decorated with the touch of a master decorator.  She is often remembered resting with the family’s 90-pound pit-boxer dog, Daisy, cuddled closely in a favorite chair.

Preceding Mary’s passing were parents Taft Snow and Mary Louise Snow-Surber and multiple brothers and sisters. She leaves in life her husband, Ray Koons, Mary’s son, Wes Shivers and his wife Chrystal, grandchildren Colin Shivers and wife Jessica, Shelby Shivers and his wife Kaitlin, and Sarah Bessey-Shivers and her husband Michael, Abbie Morton, and Morgan Russell and her husband, Billy. Great-grandchildren include Levi Shivers, June Shivers, Wes Shivers, and Gwyneth Shivers children of Colin and Jessica Shivers. Ethan Shivers, and Emmitt Shivers, children of Shelby and Kaitlin Shivers.  Brystol Bessey, Jansyn Bessey, and Slayte Bessey children of Sarah and Michael Bessey. Miller Russell, child of Morgan and Billy Russell.

Mary leaves step-son, Chris Koons, the father of McKenna Koons, and Chaney Koons.

Mary enjoyed hours of spades games with her niece Connie and husband Tom McNeely.

Mary greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and great-grandchildren loving on her while they were being loved by her. She enjoyed spending time working jig-saw puzzles on her tablet and creating beautiful strings of beads which hang in the windows of her home. She enjoyed escaping with Ray to the family’s townhome in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Mary was born in Bay City, Texas spending her early years growing up in nearby Van Vleck.

Ray and Mary met in Tulsa, Oklahoma after learning that each of their boys were born in Arlington, Texas three weeks apart at the same hospital where each child was delivered by the same OBGYN and were cared for by the same pediatrician. Ray and Mary celebrated 41 years of marriage.

Mary’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with a photo tribute about 20 minutes prior to the start of the service at:
