Riley Dean Dorson Sr., 88, of Huntington, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026.
He was born in Milton, Iowa, on June 7, 1937, the son of Ernest and Veneta Riley Dorson. As a young man, Riley proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After receiving his discharge, he married the love of his life, Dixie Oree Miller. Together they raised a family of six children.
Riley was a master equipment operator, specializing in bulldozers, track hoes (excavators), and various sizes of cranes. He was a longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 450.
Riley and Dixie loved riding their Honda Gold Wing motorcycle and enjoyed joining fellow riders in groups and clubs.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Dixie Oree Dorson, of the home; daughter Debra and husband James Burkett of Cushing, Oklahoma; son Riley Dorson Jr. of Huntington, Texas; son Randy Dorson of Conroe, Texas; son Chester Dorson of Huntington, Texas; son Eston Dorson and wife Penelope of Lovelady, Texas; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jim; his sister, Shirlene; and his daughter, Teresa Michelle Dorson.
