Steven L. Wright

Steven L. Wright passed away on February 3, 2023, after a very brief illness

Steve was born on May 20, 1964 in Tyler to Carl Derward Wright & Myrna Loye (Adams)

Wright. He worked for several years in the Grocery industry and then for Coca Cola Ent. A

wreck in 1992 left Steve in a wheelchair for the remainder of his life. He never let that slow him

down. He was always the picture of hope and resilience. He loved to travel the East Texas area

watching his favorite player Chad Sherman play ball. He loved spending time with family and

friends, playing board games watching sports on TV, and going out to eat.

Steve’s outlook was always one of humor, and love. His parents devoted their lives to his care

from 1992 until 2011 when he married his greatest love Kathy. Kathy’s love and devotion gave

Steve such joy and continued his good quality of life.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents C D and Myrna Wright. He is survived by his wife

Kathy Wright, two stepchildren Brittany (Nate) Harper of Marshall, Chad (Whitney) Sherman of

Flint, and three grandsons Jack Sherman, Wesley Sherman, & Ben Harper. One sister Shari

Wright of Tyler, Aunt Laverne Emmons of Tyler, Uncle Barney (Eva) Wriaght of Malakoff and

numerous cousins.

Steve was very close to many friends that stuck by him all these years and helped out in so

many ways. Charles and Evonda “Cookie” Curry, Darlene & Ralph Kingsley, Teresa & Judd

Hubbell and many others.

Services will be Thursday February 9 th at Flint Community Church, 11019 County Road 174

Bullard, TX. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 am with a Memorial Service following at

10:00am. Officiate will be Steve’s longtime friend Steve Trammel. Honorary pallbearers are:

Judd Hubbell, Charles Curry, Chad Sherman and Ralph Kingsley.

Joshua 1:9 states, “Be strong and courageous, do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed for

the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”.

Isaiah 40:30 “For they shall mount up on wings like eagles. They shall walk and not stumble,

they shall run and not grow weary”.

We are comforted to know that upon his passing Steve was met by his Lord and Savior and

walked through those gates on his own two feet.
