William Michael “Mike” Mooney passed into Glory June 2, 2022 with his family by his side. Mike was born January 11, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Canadian High School (Canadian, Texas) in 1970. He and his high school sweetheart Katherine Reeves married on February 17, 1973. They were each other’s lifelong companions. Mike was a proud resident of New London for 33 years. He was a Christian, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Mike was the epitome of hard work and determination. He was involved in a severe car accident in 1982 where he was told he would never walk again. He enrolled in TJC where he graduated with an associate degree in petroleum engineering in 1985. He worked in the oilfield, and not only did he walk again, but he also went on to own and operate his own independent contract pumping service, J&M Contractors, from which he retired in 2020.

He is survived by his wife Kathy, their three sons James, Matt, and Chris, eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Mike loved fishing and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. He will be remembered for his extreme kindness and compassion for all that knew him. His love for animals, especially his Boston Terriers, knew no equal.

The family is welcoming all who would like to attend to the graveside service, Tuesday, June 7 at 10am at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, on Hwy 323 in Overton.

We ask that any deliveries to the funeral home be made the day prior to the service, as arrangements may not make it graveside in time.
